It has been 20 years since the project started. There are now more than 60’000 spread all over Germany, remembering victims of the Holocaust and where they lived. They honoured Jews, Rroma, and others who were killed in the Nazi madness.
Let’s remember them all, and well done as a project!

An exhibition on the Holocaust of Rroma in Bohemia and other Czech lands is opening this week. Good one speaks about it, as the Czech lands were nearly totally cleaned of Rroma in World War Two. And not all by German Nazis, by far not.

The case of the police harassment of Rroma boys in Kosice is returning to court. Basically, all police officers are whitewashed. This is true racism.
Another of these articles that feed on stereotypes. Kings, barons, mansions (well…), all stereotypes are here. Is it reality or is it something else? Besides the taste to be discussed, the view here is that all these Rroma did their money illegally on the back of the UK (or European, or else) taxpayer. Wrong… They worked!

Two article on a festival last week end in Western France.
A polemic started in France because of a planned moive by a French humourist – Christian Clavier – called “Sivouplééé” – a play on the French “please” as pronounced by Romanian Rroma beggars. This movie shows a leftist intellectual who has to open his home to a family of Rroma. And of course, all stereotypes are present.
Toni Gatlif, the French Rroma movie maker simply finds this disgusting, and we share his point of view.

Jews and Serbs have boycotted the celebrations of the liberation of the Croatian Concentration camp of Jasenovac on Friday the 22 of April. This is an infamous concentration camp where many Jews and Rroma were exterminated by Croatian Ustasha. Jews and Serbians are protesting against the rehabilitation in Croatia of people associated with this regime and crimes.
And the spring comes, and camps are dismantled or at least threatened … The French constant. In Ris Orangis, near Paris, a camp was dismantled; in Annet sur Marne, the tribunal will decide on May 6th about the camp, a camp which has neighbours up in arms; in Lyon, a new camp in the city; in the North, Rroma are being displaced to a new location in Vauban amidst opposition; and near Paris, a commune searches for a solution for sedentarised travellers.
Meanwhile, former residents of a camp in Paris are looking for a new address; and mayors in several cities in France are really increasing their racist rhetoric. Finally, a Bulgarian death in a camp lands in front of the justice – with the usual background of “human trafficking”.
A series of conferences on the “remembrance” focuses on the persecution of Rroma and Sinti in Nazi Germany.
Let us not forget.
A young Rrom was brutally beaten in Bulgaria (and the beating was filmed) for having said to the man he was his equal… If this is not racism!
The man has now been arrested. Let’s see what he is condemned to.
An interesting proposition … Concerts at home. A Dutch musician, together with 4 Rromni is making concerts in people’s homes. A nice way for people to meet Rroma.

The World Bank issued a statement condemning Romania acts of racism against Rroma while the US State department slams the country for corruption and discrimination of Rroma.

71 years ago to this day, the concentration camps of Ravensbrück and Sachsenhausen were freed. May those who did not survive rest in peace.
