In the South a France, Saint Laurent du Var, a small town, has decided to forbid people from searching garbage cans. Roma from feel themselves targeted and are fighting this new regulation. In Nice, a family with three kids is being thrown out onto the street as the place they live on has been sold. In Western France, in Angers, Roma from a camp fear that they will be expulsed. Near Paris, in Melun, the Roma who had been lodged in a former hospital are being threatened with expulsion. In Ablon-Vigneux, residents are demanding the closure of a camp. In Eastern France, in Strasbourg, a new idea to fight against shantytown is being investigated. In the North, in Roubaix, finally, the interview of a doctor who serves the poor Roma from the city.

An article about Roma in Rome. There are about 7’000 officially counted and several more in other camps. Allegedly, they “cost” 8.4 Mio EUR. The “Inclusion” Project of the Five Star Mayor Raggi has not started. In fact, they are trying to deport Roma.

Giorgio Halilovic was born on August 12, 1982 in Rome in a camp and was the beneficiary of a EU funded program on integration. In the afternoon of April 12th, 2018, he was arrested by the police, transferred to the Office of the Police Headquarters of Rome and officially expelled from Italy. The next day he was put on an airplane and taken to Sarajevo, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country he had never been to.
This is the new policy of the Five Star movement and of the Rome Mayor Raggi.

Rome’s mayor, Virgina Raggi, now wants to use “assisted repatriations” for non-Italian Roma to ease the closure of the camps.
REALLY????? The Italians did everything in their powers to deny citizenship to Roma in camps. So people have lived for 30 years in those camps will be assisted to go back in their countries… It says a lot how far right Italy has gone.

As usual … A short presentation of Roma by l’Express mixes a few correct facts (Indian origins) with total BS, assimilating the Roma as a whole to the Vlach Roma from Romania, stating that they starting arriving in Europe in the 1980’s (in fact they arrived about 80 years earlier) etc…

Few news this week on Roma in France. The main one is the one of a video which is a fake and purportedly shows a Rom aggressing a bus driver in the North of France before being beaten up. The video was shared over 240’000 times! Near Paris, a drunken mayor was arrested after having threatened Roma. He was drink, wore a Japanese sword and had a gun with him.
The rest of the news are more like the usual ones: A camp on Triel sur Seine will be dismantled, the illegal dump attributed in part to Roma in the Yvelines is still a hot topic, and also near Paris, a fight between Roma has one of them landing in a hospital.
