An exhibition has opened in Cologne in the Documentation Centre on National Socialism titled “Rassendiagnose: Zigeuner” with many pictures of Roma under the Nazis. The exhibition gives a face to the victims.

Not many news lately on the Roma in France. In the Western part of France, in Nantes, the city has decided to fund a project for insertion for the roughly 1’800 Roma there, with of course Breizh Info protesting at what they see to be a waste of money; in Montpellier, in the South of France, residents next to a Roma camp are protesting and even going to court; near Paris, a member of Parliament for the Républicains made derogatory comments on Roma and beggars in general; a young Rom was beaten to death in the North of France, his assailants have been arrested – the press doesn’t mention their origins; and finally, a note on the current interior minister Gérad Collomb, and still mayor of Lyon and his anti-migrants views;

An interesting article from the catholic church about the Roma victims of the Holocaust in the Diocese of Eisenstadt in the Easern part of the country. There, the camp of Lackenbach had more than 4’000 local Roma who were doing forced labour in appalling conditions. Many more were simply sent to death camps.

It is well known that Italy forces Roma into camps and keeps them there instead of trying to integrate them in society. But in some of these camps, the most basic amenities like water are missing. This is the case of the camp of Castel Romano, which has been without water for 34 days.

A good news for a change, with a camp in Aix en Provence, in the South of France where the city was condemned for its expulsion order, meaning the camp can stay for now; a camp in Montpellier where neighbours are complaining; an expulsion in Montreuil, near Paris; garbage on the site of a former camp also near Paris; another camp evacuated near Annecy in the French Alps; and finally a camp in Lille which was also closed.
