A new exhibition titled “when Berlin was Gypsy-free” opened in Berlin. The exhibition highlights the persecution of Rroma and Sinti in Germany and in its capital and especially the “cleansing” of the city prior to the 1936 Olympic Games.

The president (and presidential candidate) of the Front National said in a meeting in Dinan, in the north, that criminality and insecurity were the result of the presence of 1’000 Rroma in that city.

A horrible story in Greece, where a deaf 15 year old Rrom admitted sexually assaulting and killing a 6 years old Rroma boy. Apparently the boy had already been held for attempted rape and had been a victim of sexual abuse himself.
Well, this is a bad story, but this is not representative of Rroma…

Following the case of a shop in Neukölln that forbade Rroma entry, the Berlin Senat has decided to sing a contract with a Rroma organisation „Landesrat der Roma und Sinti, RomnoKher Berlin-Brandenburg e. V.“ with the aim of ensuring that any Rrom, regardless of origins will not be discriminated and will be given the chance to integrate. The association is directed by Dotschy Reinhardt.

It is with great regrets that we learnt the news of the death of Peter Mercer on January 17th. Peter Mercer relentlessly fought for the rights of Rroma and Travellers in the UK and in Europe. For his work, he was awarded an MBE in 2000.
