Roma Integration
A debate on the difficulties of integration for Roma. Unfortunately, with the usual stereotypes of 80% of the Roma being poor, travelling, uneducated, etc. all the while saying there are 12 millions of them, which, if they all corresponded to the stereotypes would be much more visible.

Roma Settlements
The sad reality of the Slovak Roma settlements, otherwise known as “Osada”. The children in the settlements grow up under constant stress and are sentenced to life in poverty even before they are born. As many as 87 percent of the population of segregated settlements live below the poverty line.

Two Roma camps in the city of Burgas, Bulgaria, were destroyed by the authorities. The Roma apparently came from the region of Sliven and Yambol.

A congress of young Roma was held in Bratislava from Friday, April 8th, to Sunday. It was attended by 40 young people from Roma communities from all over Slovakia, who want to contribute to the positive changes concerning the life of Roma and coexistence with other inhabitants of Slovakia.

Vienna and Roma
On April 8, 2022, the Roma community officially submitted a position paper on the erection of a memorial to the Roma and Sinti murdered during the Nazi era in the Vienna Parliament. The politicians promised support.

On June 19, 2020, during the renovation and construction works at the market square in Tarnogród, the remains of Roma Holocaust victims were found. The exhumation, carried out by the Institute of National Remembrance, uncovered the remains of 22 people: 8 men, 3 women, probably 3 women, 8 children and 2 fetuses. The Roma were murdered by German gendarmes in May 1942.
The remains were buried in the parish cemetery in Prostynia. The ceremony began in the area of the Execution Site at the monument to the Roma and Sinti located next to the Treblinka I Penal Labor Camp, with the participation of the Roma community and invited guests.

Slovakia and Roma
The Slovak President, Ms. Zuzana Čaputová received Roma students in the context of the International Roma Day. She stated that the state should take all necessary systemic steps to give Roma children equal opportunities and that it is also necessary to work on personal attitudes so that people are not judged according to skin colour or ethnicity, but personal qualities.
