The shooting in the Munich shopping mall also made some Rroma victims: 3 confirmed deaths. Two were Sinti, and one from the Kosovo.
Residents are angry about an illegal Rroma camp near the capital. They lock the toilets, and then wonder why there are excrements outside,
Several hundred people, about half of which are Rroma are facing eviction in Szekesfehervar, a small city near Budapest. The leases are simply not renewed and people are evicted. Some Rroma reported being told that “the borders are open” …
BAD, and a pattern in Hungary.
A nice story: A Brazilian immigrant in Scotland helping Rroma to integrate.
More of it, please!
Interesting interview and overview of Hungary’s current state. Read the part on Rroma too.
The Maribor Synagogue in Slovenia will commemorate the Rroma Holocaust on August 2.
The Pope visited Auschwitz, met survivors, all in silence, may the souls that departed appreciate.
But the article states some incorrect facts. The mention 1.5 mio dead. This is correct. But then say 23’000 Rroma. Also correct if you “only” count those who were registered. To give a comparison, there are 300’000 registered Jews in Auschwitz. Far from the 1.5 Mio. Simply said, registered people where the ones who were not immediately gassed. Those who died on arrival are not recorded in the camp, just in the transport. So fact is: many more Rroma died in Auschwitz than the 23’000. May their souls rest in peace.
The Lakatos family who had a reprieve two weeks ago has now been definitively ordered to leave Canada by August 11th. They have no possibilities left to appeal. This decision prompted protests in solidarity with the family.
Another article on aggressive beggars, on a possible interdiction of begging with children, without a single mention of Rroma. This in itself is good, but does it suffice? Everyone (see the comments at the end of the article) names the culprits. Sometimes, Political Correctness is not so effective.
The authorities of the Canton of Neuchatel, having de-facto banned non Swiss Rroma travellers from their canton, are scheduled to re-open a camping spot for them. They were facing a few families who stubbornly refused to accept this interdiction and who have been working in the last few months in that region.
In the first 6 months of this year, already more than 100 schoolchildren have been deported from the Hamburg region alone. This is mostly the result of the “safe countries” policy of Germany, a policy which affects mostly Rroma from the Balkan.
SHAME!
A camp of Rroma was destroyed in Brescia. This French illness seems to be spreading. The Rroma have appealed to Renzi.
The Sinti view of travelling through Switzerland.
Croatia rehabilitated Cardinal Stepinac. The cardinal had been condemned in 1946 in a trial, which according to the current judge violated his right to a fair trial. May well be, but Stepinac was a supporter of the Ustaša regime and he never condemned their actions, especially not the killings of Jews and Rroma.
Stepinac is and remains a supporter of mass murderers.
Another footballer who missed a good chance to be quiet: This time it is Francesco Totti who compared players switching clubs to “Gypsies” … Well, we can only say we wished he had activated his neurones before making such a statement …
A review of Israel Galvan’s latest spectacle in Vienna, Austria. His latest show, called Fla.Co.Men sees him with an apron, a rather unusual sight in Flamenco.
But well, however dressed, he is and remains one of the best Flamenco dancers!
There seem to have been a sharp increase of attacks and racism against Rroma in the UK following the Brexit vote. This is really bad …
Police is investigating racist hate speech on an unofficial webpage of UK’s armed force. Rroma are a clear target of this racism with comments that are totally unacceptable. We hope the culprits will be weeded out of the armed forces.
Some pictures and news from the Bratislava Rroma festival.
An effort is under way in Canada to have the Rroma Holocaust formally recognised. This is supported by the local Jewish organisations.
