UN urged to Pay

The UN is being urged to pay a compensation of the Kosovo Rroma who were parked in a refugee camp sitting atop of a industrial toxic dump. Many of these Rroma were poisoned by heavy metals and other toxic compounds.

Hundred of displaced Rroma in Kosovo were forced to live in a camp build on a toxic wasteland. They should be compensated according to the UN.

Late …. But better than never.

Two Years Later

Two years ago, the fate of a young Rromni – Leonarda – from Kosovo who was expulsed from France filled the papers. She was found by a journalist in Kosovo where she works as a waitress. It says a lot about those expulsions.

Kosovo Musicians …

The story of the Rroma musicians from Kosovo fighting discrimination is doing the rounds! Good and a good reminder that Rroma were ethnically cleansed away from Kosovo.

Kosovo: Musicians against Prejudice

Some Rroma musicians in Kosovo are using music to fight the prejudices they are facing as Rroma in Kosovo. That country, although it had one of the highest proportion of Rroma in the Balkan has been ethnically cleaned. Only ca. 25’000 Rroma remain, less that 10% of the original population.

Kosovo Rroma: Two families must return

A German court in Göttingen decided that two families of Rroma from the Kosovo must return as they did not integrate in Germany.

SHAME!

First, the Germans recognised the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo and de-facto expulsion of all minorities, with less than 10% of the original Rroma still living there, and now, 16 years after the facts, people are sent back.

Rroma Refugees in Hamburg

Rroma who are under threat of deportation to their former “home” country due to the “safe country” regulation are currently occupying a church in Hamburg. This is their last hope. And a shame for Germany, especially in the case of Rroma from Bosnia and from Kosovo, two countries that were ethnically cleansed with Europe watching and doing nothing.

Ban on Balkan Refugees?

Ban on Balkan Refugees?

Macedonia is saying the EU is planning a ban on Balkan refugees. This is already the case with the so-called “safe countries” but could be extended to Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro. This would bar Rroma who are discriminated in those countries from seeking asylum and would also deprive the community of a mean to improve their fate in those countries. This only happens if refugees are on the EU’s door.

Germany: Green party says Kosovo is not a safe country

Germany’s Green party says that Kosovo is not a safe country for Rroma. BRAVO and at last.

Kosovo was nearly totally ethnically cleansed from Rroma in 1999 with roughly 90% of all Rroma leaving. Today, there are less than 20’000 Rroma in that country. The others cannot go back. Their houses and properties are occupied, and no one will tolerate their return. Definitively not safe.
