This is fast becoming a farce… The Orban government is now betting on Rroma integration to resolve demographic problems.

What can be “benevolent” about segregation? This is simply segregation, and is practised enthusiastically in Hungary in villages, in schools, and wherever possible.

A new project has been started in Slovakia aiming at mentoring gifted young Rroma children.These children all come from segregated Rroma settlements, right now in the region of Kosice.

The right wing party of Kotleba has launched vigilantes patrols in trains in Slovakia. This followed the alleged attack of a women by a Rrom near Levice.
Thankfully, the government is acting fast and is declaring these patrols to be illegal.

An article about the Gold that was taken away from Rroma during the Holocaust in World War Two, which according to the president of the World Roma Organisation, Jovan Damjanovic, landed in Swiss banks and in the Vatican.
That 3.5 Mio Rroma died in the Holocaust is probably a very high number, experts think it is probably closer to 1.5 Million, with roughly 275’000 registered deaths (most people were not registered, even in camps, when they were immediately gassed).
That Gold transited through Switzerland, and thus also Rroma Gold, is a certainty. That some of it landed in the Vatican will be difficult to prove.
Rroma from Elbasan in Albania have gone back to their ancient craft of basket making, and are turning it into a profitable business.
Fingers crossed that it continues to be successful.
Some clarifications on social housing in the Czech Republic. This theme has been taken by rightist parties saying this policy is open for abuses and of course will be abused by Rroma… Here’s what the Minister has to day.
Germany will pay 2’500 Euro to Czech Rroma Holocaust survivors. Knowing how many effectively survived (actually almost no Czech Rroma did survive, most Rroma in the Czech Republic are originally from Slovakia, having been moved there by the communists right after the war) and the time passed, this is not going to ruin Germany.
It is almost an insult…
Roma Pride took place in Prague. This event is taking place since a few years, and, as the second article explains, is far from being a natural thing, as prejudices against homosexuality are often still very strong among Rroma.
Guess what, lots of immigrants from Romania and Bulgaria, mostly Rroma – says who? – and thus “massive abuses” of the welfare system.

Access to water in Ukraine’s Rroma settlement is often blighted by corruption, bad infrastructure, and a general lack of will.

The Czech Philharmonic is taking time to teach young disadvantaged Rroma music in a music and dance camp attended by 60 children.
Few remarks: There are more than 60 kids in need. And why dance? Isn’t this just too much stereotype?
There are more beggars in Zurich, some of which are Rroma from Romania. From the article one could think it is a real invasion, but well, it isn’t. If there are 50 of them, this is probably high.

The story of a boy allegedly kidnapped 16 years ago by Rroma in Russia who was found recently. The kid was certainly living with Rroma, the abduction remains conjecture (and is still a common stereotype).
In Regensburg, the Rroma who initially occupied the cathedral and then accepted to move to a parish house have left that parish house. Tow of them, one from Kosovo and the other from Macedonia who are under an expulsion order have been arrested. The rest of the refugees have been handed over to the various authorities in charge of refugees. They most probably will also be deported at some point due to the “safe country” policies of Germany.

Rroma beggars from Romania are camping in a park near a church in the centre of Zurich. And of course, all the clichés are there: clans, with its clan head (patriarchal structures), poor, stealing, etc.
Bad for Rroma in general, and bad that the press needs to say these are Rroma. They are poor people, that is all.
