Waplewo: 85 Roma, out of which 46 children. From Lutsk, Ukraine.
Krzyżowice: 12 Roma of which 6 children. From Odessa. They want to go to Lithuania where they have relatives.
Wasilków: 102 Roma out of which 56 children. From Wolynië.
Currently no help from the Polish state.
We have news of several groups of Roma in Poland. One group of elderly people, women and children arrived initially in Przemiśl, and are now in Waplewo. They are from Lutsk. Another group of ca. 15 people, originally from the Odessa region is currently is trying to get to Lithuania where they have relatives. They lack money to pay for the transport. Another group is stuck in Młyny at the border.
The openhearted welcome of Poles towards Ukrainians stops when they are Roma. Several of them are stuck in Młyny on the Polish-Ukrainian Border.
We have reports of others in Przemyśl.
Numbers are unclear but rather small according to our informations.
The municipality of Limanowa is trying to relocate Roma families away from their current residence near the centre to a new apartment block that is planned to be built. Roma oppose the move and accuse the mayor of trying to create a Roma ghetto.
Residents are fuming against a Roma settlement in Poznan, fearing for their “safety”, complaining about noise, mess and smoke in the camp on Lechicka Street. The title says “Why do we allow 13-year-olds to get pregnant in the 21st century?”.

The project “Obscuring the world” by Małgorzata Mirga-Tas will be presented in the Polish Pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition. The fact that a Romni can represent Poland seems to be quite new to the country…

The endless story of the efforts by the municipality of Limanowa in Poland to evict Roma from the town and re-settle them outside of it has finally come to an end. A court has ruled that the eviction is no acceptable.
May 16th market the 75th anniversary of the Roma Uprising in Auschwitz.

A well-known youtuber “IsAmUxPompa” has been found guilty of offending Roma and sentenced by a court. He has to pay a fine of 3’000 Polish Zlotys. A first in the contry.

A Polish youtuber is under trial in Poland for having insulted Roma in many youtube videos he posted. He is one of the most popular contributor in Poland.

In Maszkowice, South Eastern Poland, a group of 11 Roma houses are being threatened with destruction for having been built illegally. One Rom is threatening to hang himself should this come true.
This technique (illegally built buildings) is increasingly used by several countries to evict Roma. And one needs to note that most of the houses in the countryside in Eastern Europe are illegally built in the first place.

The story of the re-housing of the Roma away from the centre of the Polish town of Limanowa is continuing. The mayor of that town bought a house in another town to re-house the Roma away from the centre of his town. The other place did not want the Roma either… Since then, there have been a succession of judgements against Limanowo, apparently to no avail yet.

A commemoration was held for the 77 anniversary of the destruction of the Roma part of the Litzmannstadt Ghetto in January 1942 where more than 4’000 Rroma were killed.

The story of the new house in Limanowa continues. The municipality wanted to buy a house in another village to house their Roma who live in dreadful conditions. The other commune pre-empted the buy.
It is not the first try and such a case went to court.
