Austria: Commemoration for the Burgenland Rroma

In the Austrian Burgenland, an event was organised on the 19th of November to commemorate the deportation of the Burgenland Rroma during the Nazi era. These Carpathian Rroma, established in the region since the 14th century, were alm,ost annihilated during World War Two.

An Austrian Bishop conference in Eisenstadt asked for a worthy memorial to the Rroma and Sinti victims of the Holocaust in Austria… Would also have been nice to say that the church did not do much against it when it was happening …

Vienna: A Square named after a Rrom

A square was named after the Rroma author Ilija Jovanović, who died in 2010 in that city and who was very active in the community and in Romano Centro.
