The French Newspaper le “Progrès” has been cleared for its article on criminality where they explicitely cited Rroma besides Georgians, Albanians and Travellers (by the way, showing they have no clue about what they are talking about).

SHAME.

Seems that if you are Rrom, well, then you are a criminal, that’s not offensive, isn’t it ?

Besides the regional elections where Rroma are increasingly being used for electoral purposes, especially in the north of France, one hears about: a camp on a construction site in Marseilles; a positive example in Gardanne where Rroma were helped to integrate; an new “insertion village” is planned near Lyon; 50 Rroma families escape an upcoming eviction in St. Denis, near Paris; the story of the wall at the French Belgian border seems to peter out; some dumb commentaries of Rroma in the context of circulation problems; and finally, some dubious National Front propositions in the North of France.

Our usual summary of what is going on in France regarding Rroma… In the North, the mayor of Wissous orders the closure of the Rroma camp; a squat where Rroma lived was closed in Bordeaux; in Creteil, Rroma living in the old buildings of the cemetarry’s undertaker have to leave; in the South, a mayor states that “not only Rroma are engaged in uncivil activities”; in Amiens, one of three escaped criminals (two Moldavians and a Rromanian) surrendered – and a commentary states “all the roads lead to Rroma” – even though nothing in the article states they are Rroma; garbage was removed from the site of a Rroma camp near Paris; in Lyon, discussions are ongoing about lodging homeless and Rroma; and finally a fire in a Rroma camps that only provoked several articles as it closed a major highway near Paris.

Sweden seems to be following the footsteps of France and clearing Rroma migrant camps. That such a socially inclined country tolerated ghettoes for so long is already quite amazing. But a solution, it doesn’t provide. This is WINDOW DRESSING. And thanks God, some people are protesting.

This time with lots of articles… The Rroma “Problem” in Arles; mobilisation against migrants in Lyon and politicians using this in their campaigns; Rroma expelled from a Gas Station where they were camping near Lyon; Rroma near Grenoble appealing to the authorities after the destruction of their camp; 2500 new beds for homless and Rroma in the Paris region; Rroma being lodged in a glasshouse in thee South West; another centre for Rroma near Lyon; while Rroma in the West hope for a mild winter; and finally, a regional conference by the communist party on Rroma and on how to help them (be reminded that communist mayors in France have not been better than their FN counterparts in these matters).
