Note that no one is actually asking the question on HOW do you do a census on Roma??? How do you know who is and who is not? Seems soooo natural to all that this is obvious. Is it really?

He should be reminded that this is not 1930, and we’d be interested to know how he will do this… Genetics? Social approach? Or other method?

Again … Several Roma were arrested south of Rome for various criminal activities. They are member of a mafia clan which engaged into many criminal activities including vote rigging.

In the wake of the swearing in of the new government in Italy with the interior ministry going to the head of the Ligue, Matteo Salvini, all are expecting special laws against Roma that Salvini has clamoured for.
Luckily at least some people seem to remember and fight against this!

Matteo Salvini – the leader of the Norther League – is on a crusade. He wants to dismantle all the Roma camps and clearly also to expel them outside of Italy. He is grossly exaggerating the number of Roma living in those camps, citing 40’000 whereas the last serious statistic found less than 12’000.
In any case, the Lega agrees with the 5 stars, and it is not really good for Roma.

Roma and Sinti are being described as “Invaders” in Italy in the press. The news are full of the use of “Invasion”, but, according to the Association “21 July”, the Roma and Sinti in Italy number about 180,000, of which about 26 thousand live in an emergency housing. One should add that these living in the camps have actually been prevented by the Italian state from settling properly and kept in camps for many decades.

An article about Roma in Rome. There are about 7’000 officially counted and several more in other camps. Allegedly, they “cost” 8.4 Mio EUR. The “Inclusion” Project of the Five Star Mayor Raggi has not started. In fact, they are trying to deport Roma.
This is total shamble.

Rome’s mayor, Virgina Raggi, now wants to use “assisted repatriations” for non-Italian Roma to ease the closure of the camps.
REALLY????? The Italians did everything in their powers to deny citizenship to Roma in camps. So people have lived for 30 years in those camps will be assisted to go back in their countries… It says a lot how far right Italy has gone.
