Austria and Roma Recognition

Susanne Raab (ÖVP), the Austrian Minister responsible for ethnic groups, invited people to a ceremony in the Federal Chancellery on Monday evening to mark the 30th anniversary of the recognition of the Roma as an ethnic group. It is clear to her that the culture and history of the Roma is an integral and integral part of Austria’s history, she said.

Tajsa Award

Ukraine: Fight

On November 27, a mass fight took place in the village of Pidvynogradiv in Transcarpathia, involving several dozen men, during which one was killed with a shovel. The fight took place in a part of the village where Roma live. According to the know information, the fight occurred during the elections of a “baron” in the settlement.

According to the news, a 41 years old person was arrested for having organised the fight and weapons in advance.

Ilona Lagrene

Romani Rose, chairman of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma, praised her for her “tireless education” about the minority’s history of persecution. For her it was never about “transferring blame”, but rather about “passing on knowledge”.

Petro Jovanovic / Petro Ivanovitch

The well know Parisian musician Petro Ivanovitch (Jovanovic) who was born in Serbia died recently at the age of 76 in Paris. He was buried in the Montmartre cemetery last Thursday acompaigned by music sung by his family and the many musicians who attended the ceremony.

Petro founded the “Tsiganes Ivanovitch”, a group that recorded several albums.

May he rest in peace! Te avel o drom angla leste putherdo!
