Caravan in memory and artistic creation of the Roma”, composed of exhibits collected by the ethnographer Paweł Lechowski. On the occasion of International Roma Day, Fidesz EP representative Lívia Járóka organized a contemporary art exhibition entitled “Time of the Gypsies” in honor of the diverse and special Roma culture and art in the EP building in Brussels.

By presenting the works of eleven Roma visual artists of Hungarian origin, the exhibition explores the unique perspectives of Roma visual art and describes its diverse style and specific traditions in its pictorial world.

Lívia Járóka is herself subject of controverses: She is firmly behind Viktor Orban, and thus in effect and in spite of her origins, supports discrimination and segregation of Roma in Hungary.

With a special exhibition, the police headquarters and the Hanover region commemorate the deportation of Sinti and Roma by the National Socialists to the Auschwitz concentration camp. In the first weeks of March 1943, more than 700 Sinti and Roma, including many children, were transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau from what is now Lower Saxony alone.

The exhibition “Race Diagnosis: Gypsy”  will be held from February 23 to March 23 in the state parliament in Mainz, Germany.

The exhibition on the genocide of the Sinti and Roma shows the history of their persecution from the exclusion and disenfranchisement of the minority in the German Reich to their systematic annihilation in occupied Europe. In addition, the history of the survivors of the Holocaust, who were only later recognized as victims of the Nazis, is dealt with. At the end there is an outlook on the human rights situation of the Sinti and Roma in Europe after 1989.

The Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma is showing paintings by the Benedictine monk Lukas Ruegenberg until March 19. Together with numerous fellow campaigners, the 94-year-old supported families in the Roma settlement of Habeš in Slovakia. This resulted in impressive and colorful paintings. The public vernissage will take place on Wednesday, February 8th at 6 p.m.
