Croatia: Brawl

A criminal complaint was filed against the member of parliament of the Roma national minority, Veljko Kajtazi, to the State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb for alleged violence against Suzana Krčmar, the president of the Association of Roma in the Republic of Croatia “Kali Sara”, of which he is the honorary president.

Apparenttly, the incident happened two months ago when Kajtazi allegedly physically assaulted Krčmar during an official trip to Beli Manastir, and then in the association’s office in front of several witnesses.

On September 8, shots were fired in the Roma settlement of Šmihel in Novo Mesto, and just a few minutes later another house caught fire. Apparently, two Roma families quarreled. One of thm reported the other for illegal construction, whereby the second shot at his neighbour.

A fight between two Roma families was filmed in Bjelovar, Croatia. The fight left several wounded, and a few arrested. One man is now accused of attempted murder, after he shot and wounded another in this fight.

A fight between two Roma families was allegedly prevented by the intervention of the police forces. The attack was supposed to take place in the “Kaltinets” district of Gorno-Oryahov, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Police in Veliko Tarnovo announced.

On November 27, a mass fight took place in the village of Pidvynogradiv in Transcarpathia, involving several dozen men, during which one was killed with a shovel. The fight took place in a part of the village where Roma live. According to the know information, the fight occurred during the elections of a “baron” in the settlement.

According to the news, a 41 years old person was arrested for having organised the fight and weapons in advance.
