At last, the pig farm on the former site of the Lety concentration camp has been bought by the Czech Government.

An article over the former concentration camp of Lety, in the Czech Republic. The pig farm which stands on the grounds will soon be bought by the Czech government and the site will be transformed in a memorial to the victims.

Two US articles on Lety and the fact that the Czech government will finally buy the pig farm on the site.
Unfortunately, both articles contain misleading information. That 1’300 Roma were sent to Auschwitz from there, that there were 10’000 Roma in the Czech Republic before the War etc. Fact is that many people who were shipped to Auschwitz were not registered, and that no one knows how many Roma there was in the Czech Republic before the war.
One thing though is sure: After the War, there were none left.

A Roma activist, Cenek Ruzicka, was awarded the Czech Artis Bohemiae Amicis prize for his efforts to remove the pig farm from the Lety concentration site.

An exhibition of the vanished world of the Czech Roma and Sinti who were killed almst to the last one during World War Two.

Following the decision by the Czech government to buy the pig farm located on the site of the Roma concentration camp of Lety, the contract could be signed as early as next month.
This would close the chapter of Lety, but certainly not of the Holocaust in the Czech Republic where Roma were almost totally annihilated – essentially by the Czech themselves.

200 people commemorated the victims of the Holocaust on the site of the Hodonin Roma concentration camp in the Czech Republic. The commemoration was attended by the Prime Minister.
