The German Author Michail Krausnick, who has relentlessly engaged himself against discrimination has been awarded the Lagrenne prize of the City of Manheim for his work. The Prize is named after a well known Sinti Family of the region, the Lagrenne’s.

A Hungarian Operetta on Rroma has debuted at the Hungarian National Theatre. The play has been on stage in 2014 in Hungary and abroad. The performance claims to show f Roma Culture and traditions and to seek authentic Gypsy music and dance show of the world.
The plot however, is clearly biased towards the life in the Cigany Telep, the Rroma ghettoes in villages and towns of Hungary. Quite full of stereotypes.

An interesting reconstruction of a lynch in Germany shortly after World War One, following a petty theft by a Rrom. It ended in the death of two people, and had its roots in racism.

The Association of German Sinti and Roma has issued a movie commemorating 40 years of civil society work and of the fight against stereotypes and prejudice.

A young Rrom was sentenced to 8 months of prison for racism for having shouted “Czech f*ckers” during a commemoration for the young Rrom who was killed in a pizzeria a while back. The man was his cousin.
Using terms slandering Rroma is apparently not treated the same way, otherwise, there would be many people in Jail in that country.

The Federal government and the Regions in Germany have finally promised to retain the graves of Rroma Holocaust survivors. Normally, unless the family pays, these graves are re-used after a 25 years period.

Liebeskind’s plans for a Holocaust Memorial in Amsterdam were unveiled. The memorial is dedicated to the 103’000 Jews and Rroma from Holland who were sent to the concentration camps.

Bad taste in France. The comedian Christian Clavier who a while back said he would produce a comedy on Rroma called “Sivouplee” a pun on the beggars asking “s’il vous plait” released the trailer of the movie now called “A bras ouverts” – with open arms.
