Bad – bad as an article, and bad in that that a minority of Romanian Roma seems to make the headlines. Especially since in Pittsburgh, there have been many Roma from Czechoslovakia who have and still live there since pre-World War One.

The exact extent of the Lety camp has been assessed by archaeologists. They managed to find physical remains of the barracks, contrary to the common view that the camp was totally razed at the end of the War.

The planned opening of a memorial to the Roma victims of the Holocaust in Hodonin, on the site of a former concentration camp, has been delayed indefinitely. This is the result of a possible transfer of ownership of the memorial and exhibition from the Education Ministry to the Government Council for Roma Minority Affairs.
Well, seems that the Czech prefer not to dwell too much on the fact that they killed nearly all Roma in the country during World War Two.

A Slovak article got their history totally wrong: Stating that until the 19th century Roma in the Austro-Hungarian Empire were mostly nomadic.
No, All Carpathian Roma were not. There were the Kale / Sinti in the Czech Republic and, after the abolition of slavery in Romanian lands the Vlax Roma, but by and large, the nomadism is a myth that Maria Theresia took from her German background.

The commemoration of the Rroma victims of the Holocaust on the site of the former camp of Lety (Czech Republic) seem in a bad shape. They were due to be held on the 13th, but the Rroma organisations are postponing their participation following the resignation of the Czech government. This resignation potentially endangers the decision to buy back the site from the operator of the pig farm located on there.
