The financing measures to increase employment of the Roma have had a positive effect. This is asserted by the Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Roma Communities Ábel Ravasz (Most-Híd) in connection with the monitoring report on the implementation of the Strategy for Roma Integration by 2020.

René Lužica, a researcher at the Institute of Roma Studies in Nitra, studied “miracles” and apparitions in Roma settlements. He says that the revelation of the Saviour’s silhouette in Batizovce and Petrov which are a miracle for local Roma believers are a manifestation of popular faith.
One wonders what this has to do with Roma studies …

The Slovak President Andrej Kiska said during a visit in Moldavan ad Bodvou that the number of Roma in Slovakia reaches almost 10% of the population, but a large part of the politicians do not want to admit that they do not address the fundamental problems of this community.

Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini wants a wider debate on the report on Roma integration following the publication of a report of activities on this subject in Slovakai for 2017.

Slovakia spent 82 million euros on Roma integration last year. It is a not a small amount, but it did not have a big effect either.

The Prime Minister wants to negotiate with the Office of the Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Government for Roma Communities on how to improve their employability in the labour market.
The situation in companies is critical because they have a problem with labour shortages. According to the Prime Minister, it will be necessary to find some incentive system for companies who employ Roma and keep them working for more than 12 months.

A sad tale of the sole source of water – a well – in a Roma shantytown which was polluted, essentially because some of the “dry toilets”, i.e. a hole in the ground got flushed by heavy rains.

There is a shortage of workers in Slovakia and the state is taking measures to employ Roma and bring in skilled workers (who often are actually also Roma) …

Minister of Labour Ján Richter has repeatedly said that there are many Roma in Slovakia who want to work, only companies have many prejudices against them.
The most recent analysis of the Institute of Financial Policy at the Ministry of Finance shows that most of the work Roma do does not really benefit the state ad that the measures to help Roma find work are inadequate.
