A Rroma organisation, the association of the 21st of July, is challenging the Italian government to close all remaining camps within 5 years and integrate the Rroma who are currently living there. Knowing that the police, the state, and NGOs all benefited from these camps in Italy, this will be a challenge.

The current president of the International Romani Union, Normunds Rudevics wrote a letter to the Italian authorities protesting the planned evacuation of a camp with 35 Rroma families near Rome.
Several Italian Rroma organizations are protesting the tender for managing segregated Rroma villages that are meant to replace the current squats. This has already been tried in Italy and is the main reason why there are still so many camps around cities and the capital in particular.
A series of articles was published in Italy in the context of the remembrance day of the Holocaust on the 27th of January, explaining that Rroma were also singled out by the Nazis during World War Two. This is not well known in Italy, so GOOD!
