The last report of the Association 21 July, shows that in Italy, there are about 26’000 Roma and Sinti living in emergency housing and camps. 43% of Roma and Sinti are Italian citizens. 55% are children who are more likely to pay the price of social isolation, lack of schooling, and poor health care.

Another slow week – actually this is the best news that one can hope. If the trend continues, we will have to discontinue the French chronicle, started at the height of the Valls era. We will keep an eye to see whether this is a real trend or just a lull before the storm.

The state of lower Saxony in Germany has decided to halve the money that is gives to Roma and Sinti organisations. This will kill quite a few cultural and social programs.

In the afternoon of September 13, Roma families of the Camping River camp decided to return to their homes in Via Tenuta Piccirilli 207, on the Tiberina, in the North of Rome. They were protesting against the illegitimate eviction ordered by Matteo Salvini and Virginia Raggi on July 26, 2018: “we want to guarantee a school and a home for all our children: we cannot live on the streets”.
