The Social Work Center Črnomelj has conducted a series of workshops for children and adolescents within the framework of the Roma Assistance Program for Socialization in the Multipurpose Roma Center. Four Fridays in a row, 17 different children spent the afternoons in the VNRC. The themes of the workshops were appropriate for the annual time, that is, the Christmas decoration and New Year themes.

Yet another illustration that one rotten apple is sufficient to drag us all down into stereotypes. This is the ongoing case of the Mafia in Ostia, the former Rome port on the Tiber, a Mafia where one of the main gang and bosses are Sinti.

The movie the Time of the Gypsies is now also a theatre production. It has been presented as a musical in Turkey for the first time.
While the movie was excellent as a movie, it presented Roma in a very stereotypical fashion. Let’s hope the theatre production will not do the same.

The British artist Damian Le Bas died unexpectedly at the age of 54 in his home in Southern England. He was most notably present at the first Sinti and Roma pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale.

More background on the recent news that an Israeli scholar claims that Roma are the lost Israelite tribe of Samuel. He has a Facebook page and a foundation called Atsigana whose goal is to establish a Roma Holocaust museum (in itself a worthy goal).
Only issue, his theories are totally wrong.
